Andy Update

It's been almost 3 weeks since we got Andy.  The sweet, perfect little puppy that I thought I had is long gone.  He is still sweet, but far from perfect.  He's really come out of his shell.

House breaking has proven to be a difficult task.  It's getting better, though.  I am kennel training too.  He whines a little when I put him in, but he sleeps in it all night long.  Once we can trust him to not pee on our carpet anymore we will let him sleep wherever.

There have been many times when I have seriously considered selling him.  (Especially after I stepped in his poo on my way back to bed one morning.  I had just taken him outside.)

The poor puppy is so cute, and a little too crazy for his own good.

One day he was standing on the second step when I picked up a toy.  He leapt into the air, missed the toy, and landed head first on the tile.  I picked him up and he was really dazed.  He kept closing his eyes like he was falling asleep, and I was really afraid he had a concussion.  But he was fine.  He was running around the house again within minutes.

He has fallen off the couch multiple times.  He was sleeping on his back, and adjusted.  The next thing I knew he was on the floor.  He looked up at me, confused about what had happened.

Today I was walking down the stairs.  He started out behind me but somehow ended up in front of my left foot at just the right moment for me to kick him down the rest of the stairs.  Poor dog.  He landed on the tile (thankfully not head first), and he got up, looked at me, and wagged his tale.  He scared me, though.  My heart was racing.

He likes to chew on everything.  I can't wait for him to get past that phase.

He is still very sweet, and a lot of fun.  He loves to run after the toys that we throw.  He loves to run around our little back yard (it's the perfect size for him).  Sometimes he loves to cuddle.  But mostly when I try to cuddle with him he tries to bite my hand.

Now if I can just get him to stop peeing on my carpet.

I put my leg on that side so he wouldn't roll off the couch again.

Valentine

Valentine's was perfect.

We renewed our Temple Recommends.  Got dinner from Kneader's.  Ate it at home.  And watched The Notebook.

I'm pretty lucky.

2nd Anniversary

Sunday we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary.  I can't believe it's been 2 years already.  It has gone by so very fast.

We actually began the festivities on Saturday night.  We went out to dinner at Corbin's Grille.  (Where we went on our first date.)  We ate way too much, and it was delicious.

Sunday Connor had to work.  When he came home we at frozen pizza for dinner (who wants to cook on their anniversary?) and we had some cupcakes to celebrate.  They were quite tasty.

Introducing Andy Griffith

Yesterday we got a dog.  I had been wanting a Yorkie.  I had one growing up and they are such good dogs.  We found a seller fairly close who had 2 male dogs left, that were fairly reasonably priced.  We went last night to see the dogs.  They were so cute.  One was really rambunctious.  He was jumping all over the other one, and was biting my finger (his teeth must have been coming in).  The other one was much shyer, but very sweet.  We decided to go with the shyer of the two.

He is such a sweet little dog.  He was so scared when we were bringing him home yesterday.  He was drooling all over, which apparently he does when he's nervous.  I had a blanket over me, but he still drooled through the blanket.  He also threw up on me.  Twice.  It was awesome.  Luckily by that point we were almost home.

I took him this morning to get his shots.  He must have sensed that we were going to do something "scary" because he was drooling all over me in the car again.  We got to the clinic and you could hear dogs in the back whining, and Andy was just shaking.  He was so scared.  I weighed him and he was 6.5 lbs, with the leash on.

He got his first set of shots and dewormed.  I didn't watch, but was told that he didn't enjoy it very much.  I have to take him back in 3-4 weeks for his second set, and he'll need 1 more set after that.

He is a really good dog.  He just sits on my lap while I work.  I've only heard him whine a little bit.  I've yet to hear him bark.  He still hasn't figured out how to go up and down the stairs.  He did jump off the couch today, though.  Yesterday he was too scared to do that.  He is afraid of the vacuum, and tried to jump onto the couch to get away from it, but couldn't quite figure it out.
