Visiting the Great Grandparents

On Sunday we went to visit Connor's grandparents.  We had been there once before with Matthew, but it had been a while.  He had a lot of fun exploring their house and all of their Christmas decorations!

We got some good pictures with Great Grandma Nielsen

Matthew really likes to pull his socks off lately.

He was really happy for his great grandma.  Not so much for his great grandpa.

Who is this guy?

Even daddy couldn't cheer him up

This is like a smile/cry.  He can't decide which one he wants to do.

We are glad that we were able to visit with them.  It's great that Matthew will always have these pictures of him with his great grandparents.

Matthew 15 Months

This cute little boy is now 15 months old!  And finally starting to walk.  We won't take him for his 15 month check-up for a while because he has thrush and an ear infection, and I don't want him getting shots while he's under the weather.

I introduced him to Cheeto's.  He's hooked.

Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.  It was simple and perfect.

On Christmas Eve we read the story of the birth of Jesus out of the Bible, as well as How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

I know this picture is blurry, but I just love the look on Matthew's face.

Christmas morning Connor went down and turned the tree lights on.  I almost fell down the stairs while carrying Matthew.  I was fine and landed fine, but I twisted my right knee, which is bothering me.  And my thigh on the left leg is sore for some reason.

When we got to the family room Matthew got excited and started pointing at things and gasping when he saw something exciting.
I hate that this photo is blurry.

He was very excited about his new laptop.

Matthew has about a million toys so I wasn't going to get him any, but I kept finding really good deals (thanks to freebies2deals.com), so I couldn't resist.

We didn't forget about Andy.  He got a bunch on new bones.  I gave him this one and he kept running around the house trying to find a good place to hide it.  Then I guess he gave up or changed his mind because he ate most of it instead.

Matthew loves this little puppy.  And I love that I paid less than $5 for it.

See how there are no ornaments at the bottom of our tree?  I wonder why that is....

We all made off with great gifts.  Matthew got some toys, candy, clothes, and books.  Connor bought me a new camera, which I love.  My pictures won't be blurry anymore!  The photo above and the one below were both taken with my new camera.  Much better than my iPhone.  I framed Connor's poster of Kramer.  He's had it for years (before we even met), and he kept telling me that he wanted to get it framed.  It turned out really nice, and he really liked it.

We had brunch in the morning with Connor's family, and after naptime went and saw Eric and Kari for a little bit, and exchanged gifts there.

We had a really great day.  I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas.

The last few weeks....

Since I've been a terrible blogger lately, I will try to do a little catching up.

Thanksgiving this year was spent with the Nelson's.  Joe and Crystal drove out from CA with their clan and we had dinner at Eric and Kari's.  Dinner was quite delicious.  I made a pecan pie for the first time ever, and it turned out really well.  I also made a pumpkin pie, and I was not a big fan.  I think the recipe wasn't so great.  We had a lot of fun with everyone over the holiday and the following days.

On Friday we went to City Creek and Temple Square.

Matthew was obsessed with this fountain.

While we were at dinner, Matthew managed to spill water all over himself.  So we had to ditch everyone else and go buy him a change of clothes.  We went to the Disney store and got him some cute PJs, but we had to wait for.ev.er because the line was so long and slow.  So while Connor stood in line, we looked at ourselves in the mirror.

Once we got him changed we headed over to temple square.  Matthew fell asleep on the walk over, and everyone else had gone ahead, so we had a fun looking around at the lights at our own leisurely pace.

Sweet tired boy

The next day we celebrated our nephew Alex's 7th birthday.  We had dinner at Red Robin where, ironically, Connor managed to spill my lemonade all over Matthew.  How did that happen two days in a row?

The California Nelson's left the following day but we had a lot of fun with them during their visit.

On December 8th we celebrated Connor's 30th birthday.  I thought it would be fun to have a 'Mustache Bash', and have a little open house and invite family and friends.  It was a lot of fun, although not a lot of people took to the mustache idea.   But we had a really good turnout, and Connor said it was the best birthday that he's had in a long time.

Here are a couple cute photos of Matthew:

I guess he wanted to do some online shopping.  Get something good!

On December 12th my mom came to visit.  We went to see Santa at City Creek.  Matthew wasn't a big fan.  I like that Matthew and Santa were both pointing in this picture.  Although Santa was pointing at me because I was trying to take an illegal photo with my phone.  I think I may have been put on the naughty list.

On the 23rd my sister-in-law Casey nicely offered to watch Matthew for us so we could finish up our Christmas shopping.  We took the opportunity to go to Salt Lake and use a Benihana coupon we had for Connor's birthday.  Benihana is soooo good.  We had a great time.  There were a couple of cute kids at our table who were very impressed with our chef.  It'll be fun to take Matthew there one day.

Since I last blogged...

We learned how to climb the stairs...

We've been cute...

We've tried to eat our toes...

We've explored (I have since cleaned out this closet)...

We got called a girl even when we were wearing a very boyish outfit...

 We've continued to be cute...

And cuter (he lifts up both arms when you say "So Big!")...

We explored some tires...

 We napped with Daddy...(and Andy)
