It's A{nother} Boy!

I was very surprised when at my 12 week appointment my midwife asked me if I wanted to find out the sex of the baby.  Of course I (and we, but Connor wasn't there) did, but I thought we would have to wait until the 20 week ultrasound.  Apparently not!

Today at my 16 week appointment we did an ultrasound and it was very clearly a boy!  It will be so fun for Matthew and little no name to play together and grow up together.  Hopefully they will be great friends.  Plus, I'm excited to be able to use all of Matthew's cute clothes again.  I was so sad when I packed it away.

To celebrate we went to lunch at Red Robin (which I had been craving).  It was quite yummy.  Connor ordered these pretzel bite things as an appetizer and they were really hot.  So I was blowing on some small pieces before giving them to Matthew.  When I did, he started blowing on them before he ate them.  It was so funny and so cute.  He wouldn't do it consistently, but every time he did I would crack up.

Then we ran to Target where we found this adorable little outfit on sale.  It will be perfect for a July baby.  I know he'll be able to wear it for like a minute since it's newborn size, but I couldn't resist.

A dose of cute

Where's Matty?

This box belongs in the closet with clothes in it.  He took them all out and sat down.

Hair

I finally cut my hair this past week.  Holy cow was it long overdue.  It took me forever to decide what I wanted to do with it, and then when I did decide my neighbor (who normally does my hair), couldn't fit me in until mid February and I just didn't want to wait that long.  I tracked down someone who used to do my hair and I always loved how it turned out, and I was very excited when I scheduled an appointment with her.  That is, until I got a call from the salon 2 days before the appointment saying that she didn't work there anymore.  What???  So then I made an appointment with a girl that was new for me, but has been cutting Connor's hair for a while.  She did such a good job!

Look at all the hair I cut off! Not long enough to donate, though.

So much better!  I love it!

15 & 16 Weeks

Didn't blog last week.  Oops.  Here's 15...

and 16 weeks...

This week the baby is the size of an avocado.  I don't know what it was last week.  Sorry unborn child!

14 Weeks

I'm officially in the 2nd trimester!  Supposedly I should have a lot more energy soon.

Baby is the size of a lemon.

Cuteness

I have to post this picture because it's too cute not to.  I went to check on Matthew the other night and found him sleeping like this.

So stinking cute.

In case you're wondering, we have his crib mattress on the floor.  Soon we'll put him on a twin mattress, still on the floor, then when he's a little older we'll let him pick out his own bed.  Fun stuff!

15 Month Check-Up

On Monday we went for Matthew's 15 month check-up.  He had fun exploring before the pediatrician came in.

His stats were:
22 lbs 9 oz (about 20th%)
31.7 inches tall (about 60th%)
18 inch head circ. (about 20th%)

His pediatrician this time was a new one.  We saw her for his thrush, and I really liked her.  I don't know if maybe it was because it was the first time we had gone to her for a well check, or what, but she was concerned about his weight gain.  Or lack of weight gain.  She asked if we had any family history for all sorts of diseases ranging from IBS to Cystic Fibrosis.  All of which were a no.  So she requested I take him to the hospital to get his blood drawn so they could check for thyroid issues.  I was hesitant, but decided it was worth it.  I really didn't think anything was wrong.  He eats a lot, he's just a really active kid.

So the following morning we went to the hospital.  It went about as well as I expected.  He screamed the whole time, but the girl who did the blood draw (all by herself!) did a great job.  He cried for a bit and then was perfectly happy.  I thought when we got home he deserved a popsicle.

We got the results from the blood draw back, and just as I expected, everything was perfectly normal.  They said his potassium was a point high, but I figure that's because this kid is crazy about bananas and eats them every day.  So, I guess I'll try adding more fat to his diet to see if that helps?  Maybe I'll start giving him chocolate almond milk from now on.

Either way, he's a happy and healthy and sweet and adorable 15 month old.  He brightens up our lives daily.

Bye Bye First Tri

Maybe being pregnant again will help me to be a better blogger?

This week marks the end of the first trimester.  It really hasn't been bad at all.  I've dropped about 10 lbs, which is more than I dropped with Matthew in the first tri.  I've been tired more than I've been sick, however yesterday I did puke for the first time ever being pregnant.  Although, I'm not convinced that wasn't from a stomach bug.

To be honest, I was reluctant to take/post belly photos of me this time.  I feel gross and don't necessarily want that recorded for the Internet to see.  But I decided to do it because it's fun to look back and remember.  Even if I don't love it now.

Anyway...Hopefully the second tri will bring much more energy, and no more sickness!
