Happy 4th!

Today was a really fun day.  Matthew slept until 8:30 this morning. (He used to be up by 7 every day.  Now he's up around 8:30.  I can't say I mind sleeping in later.)  Connor had the day off, so we made some pancakes for breakfast, and hung out.  Matthew went down for a nap around 11:30, woke up at 1:20, and we headed over to Robin's All-Star Softball game.

We thought it was almost over, but it went on for about 30 more minutes.  Even though her team should have won, it ended in a tie.  Whatev.  It was fun!  She is so cute, and such a great catcher.  She got up to bat once while we were there, and got walked, but I've seen her hit, and she's a good hitter, too.  She's just super cute all around.

After the game we went to Kari and Eric's for a BBQ with Kari's family.  We didn't stay too long because Matthew got a little cranky, but we had fun while we were there, and the food was certainly yummy.

We came home, Matthew took a short nap, then we headed over to a neighborhood BBQ.  It was really fun to get to know some of our neighbors a little more.  We came back home, gave Matthew a bath and got him ready for bed, then went back outside and did a few fireworks.  I got burned on my finger by a sparkler (ugh).  Fireworks safety!  I have a nice little blister there now.  Hopefully it heals quick.

Then we headed to an elementary school to watch the fireworks with some friends.  Last year we watched them at the park by our house, but we could really only see half of the show.  While we were at the neighborhood BBQ our friends mentioned that they were going to an elementary school to watch them, so we decided to join them.

I was a little nervous that Matthew was going to cry during the fireworks.  Lately he's been crying at really loud noises, like today he cried when people cheered loudly at the softball game.  But, he actually did really well.  He chuckled at some of the fireworks, and then fell asleep in Connor's arms when they were about half way through.  It was so cute.

Can I just say, the fireworks this year were pretty awesome.  The finale was sooo good!  I don't remember it being that good last year, but then again we could only see about half the show.  But we were really impressed with the fireworks this year.  Well done, Layton City.  Well done.

The elementary school ended up being an awesome place to watch the fireworks, and we were out of there really quickly.  It was a really great 4th this year.

Happy 4th everyone!

Splash Pad

Monday night we went to the Kaysville splash pad with some friends.  Matthew loves the water, so I thought he'd have a good time.  Problem was, the water was freezing!  Which probably feels great when it's noon, but not so great at 7 pm.  But, we had some fun anyway, and Matthew was super cute (as always).

He's such a fun little boy.
