Andy the Menace

The other morning I was upstairs with Matthew, and came downstairs to find this:

I was SO mad.  I locked Andy outside for a few minutes (which isn't a punishment because he loves being outside).

This is a pile of all the carpet he tore up.

I cleaned it all up.  This is what it looks like now.  I saved the carpet and I'm wondering if we should try and glue some pieces back?  You can't really tell, unless you look closely.  Also, now the staples are more accessible, so we're going to have to pay extra attention once Matthew starts moving around.  What I really want to do (a long long ways down the road), is put in hardwood floor all downstairs.  That would be nice.

And later that same day, Andy licked Matthew.  In the mouth.

Sigh.  What am I going to do with this dog?

4 months old!

On Monday, Matthew turned 4 months old.  How crazy is that?

Here are some pics from our little photo shoot.

I love these leg rolls.

Today we took him to his 4 month checkup.  He weighs 18 lbs 13 ozs, and is 27 inches long.  He's huge!  He's about the 95th percentile for both height and weight.  His head's small, though.  Only in like the 30th percentile.

He did really well during the visit, and even with his shots.  He looked at me in shock the second after the two nurses gave him the first set of shots, and then with the last shot he started to scream.  His entire body turned red.  But he only screamed for about 3 seconds.  I picked him up, and he was his smiling, happy self.

He has a teeny fever tonight, but I gave him some tylenol and a warm bath and it went down.  He also has this sad, pathetic cry because his legs hurt him.  :(  After his two month shots he was cranky for about 3 days.  I'm hoping this time he gets back to his normal self much faster.

Oh, and he peed on Connor tonight.  It was hilarious.  We had just taken him out of the tub, Matty was lying in the crib and Connor was just standing there thinking about something, and Matty peed.  Connor didn't even notice until I said something.  Too funny!  Matthew had great aim, right?  I couldn't stop laughing.

Big Fat Positive

One year ago today, Connor and I found out that a baby was on its way!

Warning!  The rest of this post is full of lots of gory details that you may not want to know.  :)

I woke up the morning of January 20th, and I decided to take a test.  I had taken one the day before, but it was negative, and I thought I was about to start my period, since the night before I had some spotting.    So, I took the test on a whim.  Connor was home from work that day.  It was about 7 am.  I went to the bathroom, took the test, and put it on the floor.  When I looked at it and saw that it had a very faint positive line I said "You've got to be kidding me."  I can't remember if it was aloud, or in my head that I said that.  I finished my business, put the test on the counter, and went back to bed.

Connor was awake so I told him that I had taken a pregnancy test and it looked like there was a faint line.  He got up and looked at it, and said it was too faint and you couldn't really know for sure.  I think I was out of tests, otherwise I probably would have taken another.  I called my doctors office and left a message, since I had no clue as to what to do next, and I wasn't 100% sure that it was really a positive test either.  (I have since learned that false positives are very uncommon, unless you take a blue dye test.)

My doctor's office called me back and I told them that I wasn't sure whether or not it was actually positive.  After asking some questions, the nurse told me that they would consider that a positive result and congratulations!

So there it is.  And now 1 year later, we have the cutest baby ever. :)
