Virginia (July 30)

The 30th was our last day with Joe and Crystal's family in Virginia.  They wanted to drive out to the temple.  So we hopped in the car and drove to Maryland, but first we made a stop at Glen Echo Park.  It used to be an amusement park, but it shut down years ago.  Now they have summer camp type things there, but they still have a carousel and a fun playground.

We got there and found out the carousel wasn't open that day.  But we still got to play on the playground, and explored the park a little bit.  Matthew had fun on the swings.

Then we drove out to the Washington, D.C. temple.  We stopped first at the visitors center and looked around and took some cute pictures.

Then we walked over to the temple.

I love these two that Crystal took.

Then we were trying to find a McDonald's with a playplace for the kids.  My mom found one on her phone, but I couldn't find it on mine.  So we start driving, and the GPS first takes us in the wrong direction.  Then we turn around and we reach the naval base.  My mom calls the McDonald's and finds out that it is on the base.  So that wasn't going to work.

This is the Naval Hospital where Eric was born.  I texted this picture to Eric.  He texted me back and told me that I needed to go search for the plaque that says "Eric Nelson was born here."  Hmmmm...

We finally found a McDonald's. had some lunch, and then headed to the Mosaic District where we got some yummy treats, and then went to Target.

The kids were able to all get a picture with Great Grandpa Byrd.

That was pretty much it. The next morning Joe, Crystal, and their kids headed home.
